Taylor Swift is Taylor Alison Swift. She was born December 13, 1989 in West Reading, Pennsylvania. Swift has been a singer/songwriter from the pop/country genre for the past 20 years. The stories she tells of her teenage love and heartbreaks has earned her the acclaim of many throughout the 21st century. Swift began showing an enthusiasm for the industry of music from a very young age. She made rapid progress beyond the roles of children's entertainers, until her first appearance in front of a large crowd. When she was 11 years old, she performed The Star-Spangled Banner before a basketball game for the Philadelphia 76ers. that same year she began playing guitar, and began writing songs. Drawing inspiration from country music artists such as Shania Twain and the Dixie Chicks (now the Chicks) Swift crafted original music that was a reflection of her experience of being a tween and feeling alienated. Swift left Pennsylvania with her family and moved to Tennessee, Hendersonville. she was 13 to commit more time to wooing bands of the country genre in Nashville.
